Dragon NaturallySpeaking: I bought a basic version of Dragon NaturallySpeaking 9 just to try it out. I am quite happy with it. First I was wondering if it would be able to understand my Indian accent, but it does not seem to be a problem. I can get quite impressive accuracy. It is probably not going to be very useful for coding, because coding has has a lot of strange characters and non-familiar words. I did see a package called listen for Emacs, which tries to do something in that area. All I am hoping that basically, if I can get my e-mail and other publishing tasks done via Dragon, it would be more than worth it. One thing I realised is that the microphone makes a lot of difference. I had tried earlier using a vanilla microphone and the voice recognition was very poor. However, the microphone that that came with the software is giving very good results.
